Local businesses pochettely, an Italian-style jewelry shop and charm bar, and The Fruit Stand, an eatery serving build-your-own smoothie bowls, are offering the ultimate customizable experience at their collaborative pop-up shop Saturday.?
Located at 1589 N. High St., pochettely will collaborate for a first-of-its-kind shopping and dining experience with The Fruit Stand, located at 1130 N. High St., from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, according to an Instagram post. The jewelry business will set up its build-your-own-bracelet Italian-charm bar experience in the eatery, while The Fruit Stand will offer its full menu and a limited-time pochettely-designed bowl.?
“I feel like having two different kinds of things in one space makes it more fun, versus just coming to one or the other,” said Valerie Tran, founder and owner of pochettely. “We thought it’d be cool to merge the experience together of build-your-own custom bowls and then also build-your-own custom bracelets.”?
The two businesses are also collaborating to host a joint giveaway — offering a complimentary Italian-charm bar experience and three free smoothie bowl coupons — that can be entered through the brands’ Instagram post through Friday.?
Tran said the collaboration began after The Fruit Stand reached out to her and pitched the idea.?
“I’m a customer and a fan of [The Fruit Stand],” Tran said. “We thought it’d be something fun to offer for the community and for the campus.”?
Allie Michalakes, director of marketing for The Fruit Stand, said she is looking forward to uplifting another local small business through the event.?
“It’s always inspirational to see how other small businesses grow, especially within their community,” Michalakes said. “Us being new to the Columbus area, we definitely want to form relations with the other small businesses in the community that we are in to help each other grow and flourish.”?
Tran said pochettely has hundreds of charms to choose from, and attendees can pick out their favorite to be fitted and made into a customized bracelet. The Fruit Stand will be offering a limited edition pochettely-crafted bowl, consisting of a strawberry and banana smoothie base topped with fresh mango, kiwi, blueberries, granola and almond butter, Michalakes said.?
Inside The Fruit Stand’s High Street location, each business will have their own designated area to keep the event organized, Tran said. The eatery also has outdoor seating for attendees to take a break from any rush of customers.?
The jewelry business opened its doors on High Street in Oct. 2025, according to a 614NOW article, while The Fruit Stand opened its ninth Ohio location on High Street in April, Michalakes said. Though pochettely often attends pop-up flea markets and shopping experiences around Columbus, according to prior Lantern reporting, Saturday’s event is a first for The Fruit Stand.?
“Aside from doing the vintage markets and the craft markets that everybody knows and loves in Columbus, we also think it’s super cool to collaborate with other small businesses in Columbus, especially with it being near campus, too,” Tran said. “It’s a lot easier for college students and our demographic to be there.”?
Tran said collaborative events of this nature not only appeal to the Columbus community, but to business owners themselves as well, as they are enabled to engage in shared opportunities for promotion.?
“Not only is it beneficial to small businesses that we collaborate with, but also, again, just providing that fun, different experience for our community as well,” Tran said.?
Both businesses are looking forward to hosting Saturday’s pop-up shop for Ohio State students to attend ahead to the autumn semester’s commencement on Monday and the first day of classes on Tuesday.?
“The charm bar experience is super interactive, because you get to go through and make your own bracelet, picking out all of your charms,” Michalakes said. “At Fruit Stand, everything is also a super immersive experience because our bowls are completely customizable. The whole thing is that you get to build-your-own everything.”?
Tran echoed this thought and said students can choose to spend their day at the event, or stay for a short period.?
“When school’s first starting up, you have a little bit more free time than you normally would during midterms or something,” Tran said. “This event isn’t something that’s gonna take up your whole day, but it’s something that you can do if you want to snack on an acai bowl, or you want to make something fun with your friends, or you want to just pop in and stay for a little bit.”
