A federal judge has ordered additional restrictions on Tres Genco, a self-identified “incel” who pleaded guilty to plotting a hate crime against women at Ohio State in 2020.?
The new guidelines, handed down by Judge Susan J. Dlott Thursday, follow a government request made May 26 to remove Genco from his home located two blocks away from campus, according to previous Lantern reporting. His home is within walking distance to the area of most of the university’s sorority and fraternity housing, according to court documents.?
Dlott’s ruling now requires Genco to live at least two miles away from Ohio State, in a location preapproved by his probation officer. Additionally, Genco must request and receive approval to enter any college campus in Ohio.?
Genco will also be monitored by GPS services until he is relocated according to the new restrictions, per court documents obtained by The Lantern.?
Court documents filed by Genco’s legal team on June 17 argued the government’s request that he live at least two miles from campus was unnecessary and based on emotions rather than the law, per court documents.?
Genco was arrested and charged in 2021 for plotting a hate crime against 3,000 women at Ohio State University medical centers. He spent five years in prison and was released in April 2026, moving into his current home on May 14.?
